when i took apart my project motor(B18A), i noticed that each main cap was a individual piece. While i was screwing around in the junk yard i came accross a B18B lying half in a car. I decided to take it out and check it out. I noticed that the "main caps" were all tied in together kinda like a girdle.

Is this how all B18B's are?
And is this better than the A setup?

The b18b would have the same caps as a b18a.Either some one put a b18c girdle or aftermarket one or it just wasn't a b18b.

 

yeah the motor was out of a 97 LS integra, the code was B18B1 on the block. I checked it out.

then it was an 'aftermarket' crank girdle...

I stripped down my old b18a and my current 95 b18b and all the main caps were seperate.

So no there is no difference... the engine probobly had an aftermarket crank girdle or somebody intalled a GSR/ITR crank girdle in there
