Default detonation ?

im looking into doing a b20 vtec all motor setup. where can i buy crv aftermarket
pistons? heres the setup im thinking so far.
b20z block
pr3 head
12.5:1 cr
crane 478 lift cams
itr valvetrain(higher rev limits)
hondata and all new high flow fuel setup
would i have to worry about detonation problems?
i wanna go all motor no turbo or sc

with that compression you will most likely have to worry about detonation. my friend has a crvtec bored .50 over with 12.5 cr JE pistons b16 ported head with ctr cams in his 96 hatch. he ran 12.8@~106 but his timing was backed down to 12 with 92 octane gas. and that was after he richened up his mixture with the Apexi vafc

i would upgrade farther than jut the ITR valvetrain.

and yes, your gonna need to worry about detonation.
unless your running race gas.

Mike, he was running 19 degrees of timing on 104 octane on the 12.8@106 run!!!!

You will have to worry about detonation unless you have a good knock sensor or run race gas all the time.

J&S Safeguard comes highly recommended from several big names in the automotive industry. In fact I am about to purchase one myself. There is a group buy going on right now for them for $475 which is down from the retail of $545.

thanks alot for all the help and information guys. but i read a few other posts and i think im just gonna go with around 11:1 cr and just do alot of head work and leave it at that.

11.0:1 with at least 91 octane.
That way you dont have to run retardly slow.
