DC4 door jammed. wont budge. (with pics)
Okay so my driver side door on my dc4 is jammed in place. I don't have an exterior door handle so I've been pulling on the inside handle. I've also tried to work the lever manually from the outside. Nothing... still jammed. It looks as if its not closed all the way. But when I try to press it into place. It just stays the same. Any ideas or any way I can get the GD door open. I've already tried WD-40 In the crack of the door. That failed. I need to get the door open so I can get the damn fender off so I can move on to painting my engine bay. The day I bought it I saw the guy open the door but I can't figure out how he got it to work for him. He told me just pull on the lever on the inside and the rod its connected to and Id should open. Well it doesn't wanna work for me. Help me out HT
Seems like the rod became too loose. Happened on my passenger door on my integra after thieves broke in. Door wouldn't open inside or outside. Problem was the leverage for the rod was just barely loose enough so that the rod was just barely not fully pulling to unlatch. Finally got mine open by taking off the inside door handle cover and pulling the rod as tight i could with needle nose pliers while shoulder ramming door open. A few tries, and it finally budged... Might be different in your case, but that's how i got mine open.
fixed it for future by taking off door panel and adjusting the rod tension.

I got it to open for me yesterday by pulling on that rod real hard like you said. I just figured it out Lol. How do you adjust the rod tension?
Make sure the rod is not unusually bent, and also that it is correctly ran through it's respective retaining clips embedded in the door. For adjusting the exterior door handle rod tension, you need to unscrew the handle. Then there is a rod that is threaded through the handle that runs through the door to the latch. You basically either unscrew or screw the rod into the handle to adjust the tension. It's straightforward once you see it, just a trial and error until you get the tension to where you feel is right (amount to pull handle to where door opens).
make sure you have the door panel off when you do this, so that if the tension is too loose to where handle won't open door, you have easy access to the rods to manually pull them.
The problem could also be in the latch, but i wouldn't think so. If it is the latch, can just get a replacement one.
Hope this helps!

Oh, you don't have an exterior handle... Hmm, i would guess you just need to figure out at what angle and pressure you need to pull/push the rod to get it to function.

thanks man. I got a door handle from a junkyard but I'm having a little trouble putting it on. I'm going to look for a "how to" thread in a minute. Only thing that corners me is that the lock won't fit my key.... and I'm kind of lost on that part. Id rather not go to the dealership. And pay 100+ for a door handle. But if that's what I have to do to get my key to work. I guess I will. Any input?

Uh, why won't the lock fit your key? Because it's not the right lock for your key perhaps? Or is there something else I'm missing? If not, there are ways to change the lock plates inside the lock to re-key it to your own. Check the 92-00 Civic FAQs for stuff about keys.
The lock won't fit my key because I got this door handle from a junkyard. When I bought the car it didn't come with a driver driver side door handle. So my key will fit the passenger door and the ignition. Not the junkyard door handle.
Here is the DIY you need to fix part of your problem: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/diy-fixing-doorlocks-open-any-key-2237857/
If you want to do things on the cheap, take apart your passenger side lock and write down the numbers and order of the lock plates mentioned in the DIY. Go to the junkyard and get a bunch of lock cylinders - can be from Integras or Civics - and when you get them home mix and match the lock plates for your driver's side to order them properly to match the passenger. Or you can disassemble the cylinders in the junkyard to make sure you get the numbers you need. Either way, it's all quite easy.
Otherwise, just order the correct lock plate numbers brand new from Honda/Acura.

Locksmith should also be able to re key the lock. my passenger lock is different, and I'm debating whether i want to re key it or install auto remote locks.
You got your door to open normally, right?
