Default damn emissions testers!!!

why do they care if my NOX level is .5 to high!!! ASSES!!

anyways now to the question. I know my egr system is slightly messed, and i have to put a new distributor on so i can get my timming corrected. So do i do the ole' 3 bottles of alcohol on the tank to pass, or do i fix the egr and distr. then go get it tested? tell me what you all think! any help/advice would be great.

it could be something even more simple... just have the car warmed up perfectly... you can't let the car idle too long before the test, and you can't let it sit too long off before the test, and be sure that you've driven your car at least 10 miles before you get to the emissions inspection station.

well, if your EGR and distributer are kinda fouled up, i'd get them fixed before you retake the emissions test. i say this for one reason: in many states, you are only allowed to fail the test once. if you fail it a second time, i do believe your vehicle is not allowed to be driven until the problem (whatever it may be) is rectified. at least, i do believe that's how they do it here in Northern VA... then again, they're pretty harsh here...

yeah you can fail it twice here and be fine i think. just that after the second failure you have to pay the test fee again. BOOO

Excessive NOX is from excessive combustion temperatures, running lean, or advanced timing. Anything that controls mixture can be the culprit.
