damaged JDM ITR longblock
I came acorss this deal with a crashed JDM ITR (front clip), the tranny
was busted and the JDM ITR longblock seems fine. The motor has
about 16K MILES on it and compression feels fine. The damages are
at the mounting holes only. There are no internal damage what so ever.
The 1st damage, on the side of the motor...it's where u mount the bracket
on the block and then it bolts on to the driver side mount. The bracket has
3 holes and the threads are messed up. A little chuck of metal came off.
The 2nd damage is the rear mount. Also a little chuck of metal came off.
I am sure a machine shop can fix this but I don't know the cost??
How much is this motor worth as is? It's complete longblock from TB to oil pan.
It's never been taken apart and is a healthy motor besides the mounts' problems.

I'll send you a money order for $100.00 today! Let me know.
I'd say it's still worth quite a bit. You have to weld the holes, drill and retap. Possible helicoil them for added strength. A good aluminum welder shouldn't have a problem with it.

This is what my block looked like when i got my motor from the shipping company. I had the holes rethreaded and its been fine since. You don't even wanna see what the header looked like. Sorry for the huge pics.
The motor looks exactly like yours. Its damaged at the same place.
Did you reweld back that piece and rethread it?
Also there is the same damge at the back mount...

Yea my friend bought a GSR from hondamotorsonline.com it looked like taht just a lot worse, the holes were all stripped out and they shot some bolts in that had been milled down on the sides so that they would just eat there way in. Well we sent back that motor and they're tryin to charge him a 35% restocking fee so it would cost him $1000. My other friend who got a first Gen B16 through them was okay for awhile till we pulled the oil pan off and figured out that the thrust washer had fallen out somehow. I dunno all i say is if you buy stuff from them watch out... The B16 was okay in the CRX for awhile. he managed to pull a 13.5@101 with only intake, 2.5" exhaust and 20x6x14 slicks..
