Default Damaged B16A chamber

Hey guys, I bought this B16A head a while back for $200 without much included with it and didn't care since I was rebuilding it anyway and the chamber was damaged. Someone from Portflow told me it should be able to be fixed and I'm just genuinely curious as to what would happen that would cause this kind of damage.
Maybe you guys can be of some possible assistance in giving me an idea.

You don't see the how the area around the chamber and slightly on the inside edge is all messed up? It's not smooth like the others.

"Sweating" I'm not "sweating" about it. I'm going to get it fixed at a local machine shop. It's going to be "right" this time around. I was genuinely curious as to what might have caused it. I didn't want to hear what you say I should do "this time around". Not sure how genuine curiosity is related in any way, shape, or form to "sweating" or worrying about something. Last time I checked, it didn't.

piston contacted the head.. spon rod bearing would allow the piston to reach higher and smack the chamber edge

Jeez. What's with the panties in a bunch? I said it because it doesn't matter. The post above mine nailed it. If you just look at it for a second you can see that the only thing that could have done it was the piston.

I asked a question to which I clearly didn't know the answer. Why in the hell would I be posting and asking if I knew? I had a feeling it was the piston but didn't want to run my mouth and look like an idiot. Apparently you were too lazy to answer the question or didn't feel like I needed to know. That's why my "panties" are in a bunch.

Public forum. Not customer service. You asked a question and didn't get the response you expected. Start to expect that. Now that you got your confirmation that it was the piston, what good does it do you?

I learned something so if it ever happens to me or someone I know, I'll know what caused it. I'm sorry for asking to learn about something.
