Default DA6 alternator issues

driving along earlier tonight, i noticed the battery light and cat light come on.. never had this problem before so i drive home with the wipers going slower and slower.. got home, put a multimeter on the battery with the car running and it read 11.4V - so i assumed the alternator had given up the ghost. checked the alternator fuse under the dash and it wasn't blown, so made plans to get a reconditioned one tomorrow morning.

went out for a smoke just before, started the car up, and now the battery light isn't coming on, nor the cat light. popped the hood, battery measured 14.3V while running. disconnected the negative battery terminal with the car running and it kept on goin.

anyone had this kinda problem before? ive never heard of an intermittent alternator fault before..

car is a jdm integra da6, b16a etc.. any help much appreciated

If I were you, I'd check the wires.. Sometimes stupid things like loose and dirty connections can cause stupid annoying things to happen..

yeah...it could be loose or dirty connections or wires.. but there was this one car that had the same problem.. it was a 95 sentra.. it just happened that when the car was at higher rpms.. the alternator wouldnt charge up the battery. but at idle.. it was fine.. came out to be that the brushes inside the alternator wouldnt contact at higher rpms. so try checking your battery voltage say at 2500 rpm. good luck finding the problem!
