Default D16z6 fault code and timing help please

Hey guys.. a quick help on this would be appreciated please...

ive just got my d16z6 running again after a year... fully rebuilt engine... i checked the timing with a snap on timing light and i got it to 16 degrees on the red mark on the pully but when i adjust the gun to the white mark it says 32 degrees... is this because the timing gun is assuming its running clockwise? not anticlockwise like hondas run??

next question is... its throwing up error codes 8 and 9 which is cylinder pressure sensor and tdc sensor... which i believe are in the distributor? how can i fix this? which sensors are these in the dizzy? i have some spare dizzy parts i could try swapping over... could this work??

thanks in advance

Get a new distributor.

your problems will go away.

the engine management light doesnt come up anymore.. but when i connect the service connector it still comes up with the codes. I tried clearing the codes by dissconnecting the neg batt... still there without starting the car.

as well am i right to set it to 16* on the RED mark? not white?

To clear the ECU, try removing the 7.5A BACKUP fuse under the hood for five minutes.

Yes, set the ignition timing to the red mark (middle in group of three).

thanks ron.

well ive ordered a new distributor because i was still getting the no. 8 fault code.

The engine is knocking and i dont think its the new vitara piston sound... would the engine be knocking if the tdc sensor is faulty?
