D16Y8 Won't start!!!!
Car: 89 CRX Si with D16Y8, running off P28 ECU
Here's the story... it was idling normally, and it quit on me. Just like that. It cranks over and over and it refuses to catch. Replaced the fuel pump, because I couldn't hear it priming, and it still won't start. So we checked the spark. Hooked up a timing light, and it did not flash at all on any cylinders. Also, pulled the wires to see if the cap was sending out sparks, and it wasn't. Checked the primary and secondary coil, and they both tested good. The ICM is also getting voltage, but it may be faulty. WTF Should I do??? Got warranty for like 4 more days... Are ICM's interchangeable between D series? Anything else I can check? Or is the dizzy likely screwed up?? HELP!

After you put a new fuel pump did you notice a difference in teh sound you were expecting to hear>? If you dont hear the fuel pump activate then hear a click under the dash, then its most likely your main relay located near the hood lach in the interrior compartment. I would personally check all fuses etc and make sure your plugs are sparking also, umm.. good luck
Also check the grounds, phisically grab them and try to move them. If any are loose tighten them up. The fuse thing sounds good too. Check both and hopefully it is something simple.
The new holley pump definitely makes a lot of noise when I prime it. I checked all the fuses, and they're good. I checked for spark by hooking up a timing light. When I crank it, it should flash, right? well, it doesn't. I can get a new dizzy under warranty, so maybe that's the problem. I'll check grounds right now.
Ogm, I've never had to mess with timing lights so your on your own there but if you want to make sure the engine is getting spark, then simply pull out 1 spark plug wire from the top of the valve cover and have someone hold it about a 1/2 inch from a ground source and have someone try to crank the engine while you look closely. You should notice a blue spark between the plug wire and the ground source. If not, then, no spark(or bad ground hence try another ground). If so, then repeat this for the remainder cylinders. Good Luck.

Well, thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. I finally got it started, changed out the entire dizzy (it was covered under warranty). All I have to say is that the guys at the wrecker where I bought my engine rule. They didn't bitch, complain, or try to tell me I didnt know what I was talking about. They just switched the dizzy, without question.
