Default d16y8 question

i have put a d16y8 in my 96 civic dx after i get the ecu for it will i have to do anything special to get it to run and what are the negatives if i decide to run it without vtec? new to the sohc family thanks for any info

you will have two wiring/sensor issue to deal with.
1.IACV
2.Vtec

1.your iacv will be different instead of a 3 wire from the originial y7 dx setup it will be just a 2 wire with just swapping the intake manifold normally you can get away with swapping rotors on your tb and using the y7 to not mess with it but with using a full y8 and a p2p ecu(you are staying obd2 with a p2p im just assuming) then you will have to do the 3-2 wire conversion on the plug for your iacv to work properly.

2.your vtec not being hooked up will not ruin your motor but you will have a ecu code for the vtec not being functional as well as obviously you wont have vtec. if you have somewhere you gotta go and no time to get to the vtec then you should be fine but dont put it off for too long its just a few wires from having what belongs there.
