D16Y7 Seized up and dont know why???
So one day I was driving home one day in my 98 ek hatch and my timing belt snapped. So I pushed the car into a parking lot off the road and went to go time and put on a new timing belt the next day. After everything was done and i turned the car over I started hearing a really loud knock but I was able to drive the car home. When I got it home i didnt turn the car on till the next day and assumed the knocking was from the head. So I did my valve adjustments to see if that was the issue and the noise was still there. Then I went to get a new head to replace it and still had the knocking. So I went under and drained the oil and then got the oil pan off. Then when i did that I found out I had a spun bearing so yeah I was having a rod knock. So I left the bottom end open for 2 days waiting for the new bearings to come in. So as I was putting the new bearings on, I noticed I was able to push piston 1 and 4 all the way up and down to be able to get the top bearing but then noticed that 2 and 3 would only move a little up and then stop and not move no more. So I thought it was no biggy. And I did have the spark plugs out so I would have compression. But so I tried to turn the engine manually but wouldnt budge neither counter-clockwise nor clockwise and when I went counter-clockwise it was stuck to the point where I could un-bolt the pully. Hence before i took drained the oil and etc. the car would turn over. Anyways I didnt think nothing of it so I put the new bearings along with a new oil filter also new oil. After bolting everything back on. The car wouldnt start or anything and my friend that was helping me realized at that point the engine seized. We dont know how or what caused it to seize. Any ideas???
to much info on this....
ia assume that after timing belt, there must be several problems that caused a f...d up engine.
does the crank rotates?
if no strip the engine and built it again.
if yes do a compression test and post the results
