Default D16 knock sensor

I went to touch my knock sensors plug and the plastic surround was dry rotted, it broke right off and left the one wire intact but the two little wires still in the plastic. I don't want to pay $180 at advance for a damn sensor. Anyone know what other model cars will fit in the Y8 block? Also, are there any "generic" or other import cars or domestic knock sensors that will work in there?

Also, what size socket fits the sensor so I can at least try and take it out. Is there a way to get to the damned thing with the engine in the car? Thanks!

Get a clue
The D16 does not have a knock sensor and even if it did it would only have 1 wire.

The D16Y8 does have a knock sensor.. There is 1 wire comming out of the sensor but if you break off the plastic part then there are 2 wires that go to the coil inside the sensor..

Ok guys, long ago the problem was solved with a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire knock sensor installed, knock sensors are all the same basic design and do the same thing with differing proprietary designs to keep their own sales for the snsor versus a universal. There is also a universal one out there but I found it very hard to track down so I used the Pontiac one. The most commonyl used one (on a CRX recently by a racing team) is the 5.0 V8 GM (Camaro) one that sells for only 27.00 at advance. Kinda makes you wonder why Honda gets away with charging $180 for thiers eh? Anyhow, thats fixed, the problem I'm having now is a check engine light relating to code PO453 (91) for the EVAP Fuel Tank Pressure High Voltage,.......what the hell is that!?

I kinda have the same problem as you do, i'm throwing a code for knock sensor, but i have a b18c1 swapped in a civic dx and i used the civic wiring harness. The problem is the dx wiring harness doesnt have a plug for the knock sensor, Could i just just run a wire from the ecu to the alt bracket and fix the problem?

I'm having the same problem as you. Does anyone know how to fix the evap problem? I have these trouble codes p0450 evap emission control system pres sensor fault. And p0453 evap emission control system pres sensor high.

So I blew the vtec d16y8 motor in my 1996 civic dx and swapped it for a d16y7. The knock sensor on the old motor broke during the swap and I was wondering if the y7 motor even needs a knock sensor because the engine block didn't have one when I bought it. Also if anyone knows if a y8 vtec distributor will run smoothly on a non vtec y7 head?

If you use the P2P ECU you will have to have the knock sensor or it will throw a check engine light. Yes the Y8 and Y7 distributor are identical.
