d16 engine notch?

d16 engine notch?
I keep on hearing that if you install rods on a d16z6 you have to notch the block....what exactly does that mean and why do you have to do that...would this be a task on the newer d16y8 and y7 also?

First things first. Use the red Search text located at the top right of your screen.
Not that that is out of the way yes y8s have to be notched as well.
