D15B7 distributor help
Ok I was thinking about changing from gas to propane on my d15b7 sohc out of a honda civic. It's for a rock buggy am working on. Got the idea from carry at gotpropane.com. He builds all of the propane kit for the rock buggys. But any ways what I need to know is, is ther a vacuum advance distributor that will go into my fuel injected d15b7 so I can lose the computer. Are the carb motors the same will the distributor drop right in?

Granted, but you won't find a lot of posts dealing with old carbed Civics in this forum. But if that's the case I don't see why you haven't checked with a Honda dealer.
Also, you could have just searched for the carbed versions of Civic engine and then went from there and referenced them at someplace like Majestic Honda.

This is true I haven't seen a lot of post. That's why I made one. Bc ther is some guy that knows the answer. All I want to know will a carb distributor fit in that motor looks like it would as long as the cam gear tooth count is the same an the holes are the same. Is ther any other factors? I have to have one from a carb engine with vacum to run the propane. That's why am wanting to know. Thanks

The OP uses a Factory Honda Vac. advance distributor without using the vac lines OR an ECU. Good luck getting a hold of one if you're in the U.S.

One thing to keep in mind, the D15B7 is an economy motor so the after market support is just about non existent for any custom or performance parts. The only parts that manufacturers know they can make money on for this motor is supposed OEM equivalents. A custom distributor to delete the ECU would be a custom order deal, big bucks.
Even the third generation civics (83-87) had fuel injection so more than likely the carbs were computer controlled carbs. You might have to go as far back as the 70's CVCC to come across a points type distributor (non ECU controlled) that is if Honda ever did use a non computer points based distributor.
I am far from being any kind of authority on the subject but I suspect you are fighting an uphill battle.
Not sure if it's feasible but maybe a programmable independent engine management system like AEM could let you do what you want. I think they might offer a Cam sensing only type distributor with separated ignition that I believe works with their engine management system.
Something like that may let you cut out sensors and equipment you don't need.

This guy is not very cool. But any way thanks for you guys input. An ther was some thinking goin on its hard to say why am trying to convert an fuel injected motor to carb. But I need it carb so we can put the propane kit to it. An I need a vacum controlled distributor to make the fire. Before you hate me check out what we do look up some stuff on gotpropane.com. I did see a msd setup but not sure if it will work.
You don't need a vac advance distributor if youre keeping all the efi stuff except the injectors! The electronic advance will work just the same if all you do is modify the stock intake manifold for propane injection!
Never says why or what exactly he's trying to accomplish either. Sounds like he thinks it would just be cool to get propane on a rock buggy but has no idea how to get there.
You were told where to get the vac advance distributor that you asked about and now it's a discussion on engines running on propane.
I've built rock crawlers for 28 years bud I think I may know why I want to do this. I am just not good with honda engines that's why I came here. So why don't you go **** your self an stop posting in this thread. If you don't want to help read an disagree an move on don't post.

Your rock buggy experience has never been questioned but why don't you go and just buy the damn distributor that you asked for? Or better yet find an old 80's Honda engine then you can come back and ask how you can put THAT in your project. I pretty much GAVE you the post that outlines how to do exactly what you wanted when you claimed you couldn't find anything.
This "tell me how I can do my custom project because I don't know how" doesn't show much planning or even insight much less initiative or creativity. Not gonna happen.

Here. I'll throw you another bone. Civic GX. Ran on natural gas. Look into it. So between that, the post where someone suggested you run an aftermarket EMS and the one I gave you exactly what you asked for, you have been provided with far more than you yourself have contributed.
