Default d series turboedit timing maps, experience needed

i posted this over in the FI forum but it makes more sence to have it here..

well ive done some digging around to try and figure out if my tune was to blame for the early death of my mill
here is a side by side comparison of two different timing maps off Xenocrons bin directory.. as you can see they are VERY different. hmmm

people with experience, which looks more "normal".. seeing two different maps like this from similar setups is a bit scary!

i can say from expericence the top map didnt provide long term engine life, for ME.

I would highly Recommend NOT to use the bottom map, The timing is very advanced thats usually for motor setups. If you are boosted, i would not think about running that.

simply i see too much advance for a boost setup.
wouldn't been a bad set for all motor even then seem a bit high!

wow.

yeah bottom map is very excessive, it does not have much on boost retard. seems maybe for a y8

and yours needs waaaaayyyyyy less timing on top right hand corner.... that'l do it over time

The bottom map is no good for a base map to even start with, it has to much timing for boost.

alright, well thankfully i wasnt running the bottom map.

when trying to tune a boosted setup, what is the best way to get a timing basemap to start tuning from? (remember we are talking street tuning here)

what characteristics give a boosted timing map "saftey"? which give power?

what kind of changes should be made to the timing curve when leaving vac and entering boost?

maybe a link to some in depth explanation of how timing effects your engine? or better yet how boost effects the engine and how timing helps...

so instead of waiting for answers i started digging... ive taken some screen shots of different timing maps from Xenocrons bin directory in hopes to find any common traits they share (all boosted d series TE timing maps)

the first thing i noticed is that contrairy to what people have stated so far in this thread, most of the maps look a lot more similar to the 2nd map posted above! not like mine! hmmm

here they are

this is a built d16z6 vitara setup (im expecting a pretty agressive tune here)

this next one is a DOHC ZC setup, first pic is the initial tune 2nd pic is after some street tuning (he calls it his final tune)

next we have here another D16z6 setup, not as built as the for mentioned...

now we have a stock CRX mill (d16 im assuming) this is VERY close to my setup

lastly we have another DOHC ZC setup, fairly mediocre

Interesting how none of these maps have the same timing curve as the one i chose to run.

So for people who tune boosted d series setups on TE... which one of these maps would u select as a basemap to start tuning from for a boosted D15 with smaller mitsubishi turbo (TE04H off 2.2L chrysler) 450cc injectors 2.5 DP and HF mani? 7 psi.. lastly how come?
