Default D Series Cable Tranny Question

Heres the situation...

Have a EF Hatch 4 speed.
Swapping a 5 speed Si tranny

I was told it is an si tranny but I dont know how to check. There is a code that says L3 I do believe.

The problem is that the 4 speed has 20 splines on the mainshaft. The one that is supposed to be an SI has 21.

So is this not an si or do I have to do something to make it work..

BTW- I tried the search and found nothing.

Thanks
Robby

You need 5 speed hubs. You also need an SI clutch.

no he doesnt. he cant just reuse the std axles.

you will need to get a clutch/flywheel to match the new trans with 21 splines.

i cant remember if this is right or not but you can look it up when ordering a clutch.

88's used a 200mm disc and 21 spline
89's used a 210mm disc and 21 spline
90-00 used a 212mm disc and 20 spline

There is a place to look for the tranny code by the filler plug.

B000 is si trans, and A000 is dx. small tags, soif you cant find them let me know.

or search....

L3 doesn't help identify the type.
