Default D series to B series

Lads I've got a d16 engine in my EJ8 that I've recently acquired from a work mate.OBD2a I believe and all along I've had the intension to put my b18 into it.. also obd2.

maybe im being stupid here but can I use the engine harness that's in the car now that runs the d16 to run my b18?or do I have to put the b18 into it with the harness I took out of my other civic which belongs with that engine? I don't know how much they would differ according to sensors and so on. that's my reason for the question

You can use that harness, but why not just take out the d16 with harness and put in the b18 with the harness it had

Ok bud. The reason why I ask is because the obd2 wiring for my b18c4 engine came out of my mb6 civic which had obd2 wiring with obd1 style plugs (manufacturers spec as standard on the car) this cant be separated like the obd1 wiring loom can from engine loom to interior loom in one swift action as such. The one on my b18c4 is combined with the engine loom and interior loom so I had to cut it all out as a whole rather than splicing wires and separating it and im pretty sure its the same for the EJ8 given its obd2 aswell.

96-00 civics have a 1 piece harness, which you have to use. you cannot use an integra harness.

Also what D16 engine is it? The harnesses differ from engine to engine.
