cvt tranny?
how dose a cvt tranny work? I know it has to do with two gears that move a belt to get an infinate number of gear ratios, but dont know how it dose this. and do they have them for any Honda's besides the insight?

Yep pretty much.
A computer uses information such as RPM's and vehicle speed to determine where to put the belt between two somewhat conical gears.

CVT has 2 pulleies and a belt. Each pulley have 2 cone shaped side that is squeezed by hydraulic that changes the gripping radius of the belt, to adjust the "gear ratio" at all time.
The "gear ratio" is usually set to be for fuel economy, plus the "shifting" time is very slow compare to stick or auto, so you can pretty much say "bye bye acceleration".
There are research in HEV with CVT to be much more efficient and powerful, but that is beyond what today's CVT can do.
