Default cutting the valve cover

Do you guys ever have any problems cutting your valve cover for the cam gears? Like water getting on the timing belt and stuff...It just looks like it's not a good idea, but the tech said it would be fine....Opinions/Input

Thanks

I've never gotten water in there, but you will get alot of dust and stuff in there. I have mine cut, just so when I dyno it its easier to adjust them. If your not going to be adjusting them much then I wouldn't cut it. I'm always worried about, what if a rock gets in there.

Thanks, J
