cutting axle nut
What is the best way to cut an axle nut? I'm trying to remove the left axle so I can drop in an M2F4 into my 94 accord and that SOB left axle nut wont budge. Broke 3 breaker bars already. Whats the best tool to use?
impact gun??
take it to a shop and have them zip it off and put it back on, so you can drive it home.
if you have to cut it off... cut off wheel or dremel... i guess.

spray some pb blaster and let it soak a little. put the socket on a STURDY 1/2" ratchet. i use the handle of my jack as a breaker bar. have someone hold the brakes to keep it from spinning. pop it loose..
use a 12ft breaker bar, and for a headsup it is always easier to do it while the car is still on ground level. people usually dont remember to break em loose until the car is up on jackstands already

The PB blast a few times letting it soak in between and THEN a propane to heat it well and THEN a large breaker bar with a 12ft breaker bar on it!
I had homemade Volleyball poles to hold a net up and it happened to be a nice size dia. pipe in a 5 gallon bucket of hardened cement i slid the pipe onto the breaker bar and left the bucket end dangle off the ground until it finally broke itself loose :D (there was definitely 2-3 days of hell before this worked for me)

A dremel with a cutting wheel works well. Like the above poster suggested do not cut completely through the nut, a partial cut will weaken the nut enough to twist it off with a breaker bar. Dremel cutting wheels are small enough around to clear the hub without damaging it and still get to the nut easily. Grab a few extra cutting wheels as they tend to break easily.
So my issue is the nut was heated and now seems melted to the axle. My dad heated it too much and messed the wheel bearing. How to get it off? So you think the hub is still good if it was heated that much?
