Default custom exhaust..from skratch to muffler ...

neone has any experience with custom exhaust systems ?
what kinda SSteel to use ?

what kinda desgins are good ?

is it benific to replace the cat with a race one or remove it completly ?

some time ago..i was planning on doing a custom exhaust ( complete from header to muffler ) copied on the MUGEN muffler design...
retaining the stock PIPES design with 1 more resonnator though to get rid of unwanted noise..

i really hate noisy exhaust..
and i don't have a huge budget so would custom be a good experience ?

btw..i have acces to welding and bending machines ( well mandrel bent i'm nost sure but i'll find a place.. )

the ideal setup for a b-series engine would be a 2.5 pipe diamter cat-back with mandrell bent piping. too big of a diameter will cost you power (good idea for FI motors). also, dont replace the cat with a crappy test pipe. get a hollowed cat (spoon, thermal etc.)

You can order bends from a number of sources, JCWhitney being the cheapest. Aluminized steel is fine unless you drive through salted winter roads. They'll also probably have the flanges you need. Call around local fabrication and welding shops and see what they'll charge to weld it together.

well h22a or b16..it's almost the same size required..

ok checking the JCwhitney web site ..

mmm i'll have to put my car on my lift and check out the design of the muffler..

welding will not be a problem though ..

is there any cheap good muffler u guys would recommend ?

i need something really free flow and i don't like SOUND
i need QUIET exhaust..i find that the lude makes enough noises stock while in vtec so.. ;p
eheh

that's why i wanted to get a MUGEN or a mugen-like muffler ..

would taking myh stock CAT and just hollow it be a good idea?
is there anything bad with that ?

mmm
SS or aluminized ?

cause SS seems to be really expensive though..
and i am in canada..but this car won't ever see snow ..nor winter
ehhe

(getting a smashed EL 97 and fixing it up with B18 for winter beater )

mmm
also about weight..
wonder how much the HUGE stock prelude muffler weights compared to the mugen one
eheh
can some total weight be saved there with alum muffler ?
( if it's as cheap as it seems ( alum ) i don't even care if it rusts or wahtever..i'll just replace it completly when it's not good anymore..

just looked in history at some posts from here..

and i thought of it ..

would it be better to do a stright through design muffler than a mugen twin loop style one ..

cause i'ts sure that the mugen one is more restrcitive..
but a stright trough is a lot more noise though..

what materials are used inside the MUFFLER itself???
sound deadening ?

bah ...ehhe always gets down to where to copy from
eheh

i respect spoon..and i know that they use stright N1 style muffler
but 'm pretty sure that there mufflers are really loud though..

mmm

1 or 2 resonntators ?
