Default CTR Pistons...

I am looking to get the most out of my new lsvtec setup and i was wondering if i could run CTR pistons (12.3:1) in it on 92 pump gas?? thats the best we have out here and i drive the car everyday in summer so i can't afford good octane boosts for every tank. Or should i just stick with the pr3 pistons (11.3:1) that i already have?? here is the setup just to give you a background:

b16a1 head
Jdm DC header
2.5 inch exhaust
ITR intake manifold
Skunk2 stage 2 cams/valve spings
Mugen Chip ECU (obd0) pr3
VAFC

Thanks

You should have no problem with the CTR pistons... Just get it tuned and you'll be fine.... The line i would put on it is about 13.0:1 and higher... You can get away with 13:1 and 92 but your tuning has to be perfect... Your setup will be a little more leaniant... Peace

What he said + richer is better than leaner when running high compression.

Forgot to add too... If you still don't want the CTR's compression for some reason and you think that the PR3's is too low then you could go with P30's... For an OE piston they are right inbetween... PR3's = 6.01cc of dome P30 = 6.93 PCT (CTR) = 8.63 Every other Honda OE piston will have less dome... Latez

What sort of heat are you going to be driving in?

Sounds good, so far i'm leaning towards the ctr pistons. What kind of power gains do you think i'm looking at over the pr3's?

as for temp. we run maximum 30 degree's celcius, usually around 20-25 average.

So anywhere from ~65 degrees to ~85 degrees fahrenheit.... I like metric sometimes like when building a motor... It's cool to say i got an 85mm bore.. But i'm used to Fahrenheit so i didn't even know what 20-30 degrees centigrade was... hehe... You should expect more power but it's all dependant upon tuning... I would say you could probably get 10-15hp with that difference but it's not a rock solid answer.... could be more could be less.. Good Luck

don't for get to add some ARP rod bolts with your new pistons. Also remember since those ctr's are cast they cannot handle detonation nearly as well as forged pistons......good luck
