Default CTR intake cam

I finally did my dynorun today. 94civic h/b with B18C1 ( 170.3 to the wheels, 124.6 max torque ). Got a question; Im currantly running skunk2 stage one cams, cam gears, titanuim retainers, with skunk2 stiffer valve springs. I have a brand new CTR intake cam in my garage. If I were to install this, do you think I will gain more power throughout the powerband ?? Thanks for the help.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, you dynoed 170.3 with the skunk2 stage1 cams? and if so, those were tuned as in dialed in on some adjustable cam sprockets?

I don't rekon you'll benefit, the skunks are a bit more aggressive and they're designed as a pair.

Katman: Yes, we used the skunk2 adjustable cam sprokets. Skunk2's chief mechanic, Steve Rothenbuehler did all the tuning to the car. Intake was set at +.5 and exuast -0. I forgot to mention that my car has a skunk2 P28 ecu, JDM 4-1 header, intake, and 2.5 exuast system. Still working on trying to produce more power with what we have. Thanks for the inquiry.

hmm interesting, ok. Did you have any kind of fuel pressure regulator and/or an electronic fuel/vtec controller at all too ?

Katman: Yesterday (6/12), I didn't have these items. Today ( 6/13 ), I bought the AEM FPR and a VTEC field controller hoping that it would boost a little more power. My power band now is alot smoother, but I lost 2hp on the top. The good thing that happen was that I gained 5 hp in the mid range. We did about 15 runs today and the graphs all started to look the same. So, Steve came to a conclusion that that was all the power we going to generate with all we had. Next thing that he recommended was to get a Skunk2 intake manifold and ITR (USDM) pistons. That'll probably happen soon.

If you're going to open up the motor to put in pistons, at least make it worth your while and get a sizable compression boost.

I'd say at least B16A2 pistons(i.e. Civic Si 99-01). Or CTR pistons if you REALLY want some power. I think the ITR pistons will only give you ~11.0:1 or lower. I'd shoot for something closer to 11.8-12.0:1. This will still run on pump gas, and definitely give you a ton of torque all over.

Intake manifold also sounds good, as the GSR manifold is probably choking power with all that surface area.

Might want to put in some ITR outer/Portflow inner valve springs and get your rev limiter set to ~8.8-9k since you could probably make power up that high at this point.

Then you'd have a pretty killer setup, and I'd estimate ~190-200whp with very good tuning.
