Default CTR cams and ITR valvetrain in b16a2........help!

Hey all, Ok CTR cams in a b16a2 with ITR valve springs and retainers will do the job or should i go with different springs and titanium retainers. Will The ITR valve train and CTR cams handle the high rev like 9000rpm or so. Thanks and any help will be apreciated.

with that set up i would go with the type R spring retainers and dont forget you need b18 keepers... the b16 keepers are no good for type r retainers!

Your fine. Unless you've switched to OBD-I you arent most likely are only going to 8,200 rpm anyway. Just to answer your question, those retainers and springs are perfect for those cams. If your still OBD-II, get yourself a Type R OBD-II ECU so you can take your car to 8,400 rpm. -HIT

I ment to say "Unless you've switched to OBD-I".

I agree with HookUpsImportTek, you should be fine if you run the stock ecu, but since you want to take the rpm to 9k then you should get stiffer springs and titanium retainers

I think it is OBD-1 cause its a p30 ecu and will have chip, the redline will be around 8500-9000 rpm. Ive seen similar setups making power past 8000rpm-9000rpm. I don't want to go past 9000rpm because i think with my setup there will be no power made past 9000rpm. Want to make sure if that the ITR valvetrain is good enough for up to 9000rpm or should i go with other springs and retainers.
Thanks,

Get it dynoed to find out where you actually stop making power, you don't want to be overrevving.

Also, what is the maximmum safe RPMs CTR cams and ITR springs and retainers can take?

Yah, Well thats what im gonna do when i dyno it prolly have the rev limiter at 9000 or 9200 rpm. I just want to know if it can handle it, without valve float....
Thanks

Type R valvetrain is usually good until about 9,000 rpm. Although ive driven and been a passenger to many people taking them 9,500 with no problems. I see know reason to take it passed 9,000 rpm though.
