If "some" cams are prone to breaking, why couldn't you cryogenicly treat the cam as you would a crank/piston/rod.

I have seen the cryo treatment before... Looks very promising, I have just never seen it on a heated part, just stressed parts. Might be interesting, but I think most of the breakage is coming from mis-installed parts, or out of spec parts

Will the cryo process distort/warp or change the dimensions of the cam? I don't want to go through with it an have clearance issues or compromise the operation of my engine.

They're not breaking because they are weak.

they break cuz people install them wrong!

 

i believe comp cams uses cryo..
