I own a 90 CRX SI. When trying to start the car it starts up and dies immediately. If you keep the key turned to the start position and hold it there they car stays on unil you release they key. The last time the car was drivable after it shut off there was smoke coming from the steering column. Could it be that i have fried a wire? If so how would i go about getting to it.

 

im not sure how to fix it but it sounds like your ignition is fried. good luck
