CRX LS swap smoking issue
My car seems to be smoking only when I first start the car. The bottom end is pretty much brand new. And the smoke is Black but my bumper isn't black from the smoke so im pretty sure it only smokes on start up. Here are my specs-
B18A Block
USDM Type-R Pistons w/ rings
shot peened rods
Type-R oil pump
Stock B18A head
with new injectors
Also when I'm Driving I smell fuel so Im guessing its running rich. Could that be because of the higher compression? Someone Help me.

too much fuel.
smoke on start up is because the mixture is much fatter when its cold. in this case, it sounds like its so rich that it cant burn it all. read your plugs, i bet theyre covered with lots of unburned fuel. there is probably unburned fuel in the cylinder when its started, maybe a bigger puff when FIRST started?
to quote a plug article:
"A black dry fluffy colored plug is caused by deposits from a carburetor that is running too rich (too much gas), or excessive idling on some engines. Black smoke coming from the exhaust is a sign of a rich air/fuel mixture. The rich air/fuel mixture must be repaired before installing a new spark plug. Common causes for a rich air/fuel mixture are:
* dirty air filter.
* air mixture screw or carburetor needs adjusting.
* choke is sticking. (<this would cause the mixture to be much richer by restricting air>
* carburetor float height is out of adjustment or float is sticking open."
to apply it to your case would be a little different since its not carb'd, but the same principles apply.
..if i got carried away, im sorry. i experience this everyday with my car, because it runs rich, has too many miles on it, and is 30+ years old... (75 plymouth valiant daily driver until i finish my Sedan). i love it and have driven it for a year+ now, runs good, but im not really fond of the glorified gas leak setup.
hope this helps.
