Default Cruise control prob checklist

Can someone post a checklist of things I should check. My light comes on when I push it on the dash, but when I press the buttons on the steering wheel nothing happens. I am going to check my fuse under the dash. I also checked all the lines that run from the cruise control to the the intake manifold and they seem fine. Any other suggestions? I did a search but didn't find anything that helped.

Could be the brake light switch.....if it is bad, the cruise control thinks you have the brake pedal pushed in, which disengages the cruise.

How do I check that? Check the connection on the plug?

Since no one responded, I figured out the answer myself. Both lights were coming on and the fuses were fine. What happened was I took off the hose that runs in between the intake manifold and the vacuum tank and installed it backwards. The little filter thingie between it only opens one way and thus wasn't letting air through. You can test this piece by blowing into one end of the tube and seeing if air comes out the other way. The end that the air comes out goes to the intake manifold. If you blow and no air comes out, you have it backwards. Just in case anyone is installing cruise into their cars, don't forget to check for this
