Crankshaft position sensor (Code 4) Fixed.
This ones for the archive. Just wanted to add to the search function of a fix I made that got ride of the Code 4. (Me personally am tired of searching through dumbass posts of problems and not being able to get a solid answer.)
Symptoms:
Ripping 3rd gear one night, felt a missfire. Drove fine still. Later that night ripped through 1st and it felt like it hit the rev limit at 5000 RPM. Threw a CEL. Code 4, still got it home. Next day go to start it, idles fine then about a minute into idle it popped a code 4, started idling like crap.
FIX:
Took the distributer apart. Noticed oil in it. Not a lot of oil, just enough that I thought would cause a problem with the sensors. Replaced the distributer with one I had laying around and it fixed it. From what I understand, you cant go out and buy a crankshaft position sensor on its own. You have to replace the whole distributer.
Cause:
The little seal inside the distributer itself went bad and leaked some oil in the dizzy.
Hope this helps someone out later down the road!
If anyone else has more or a better explanation, please feel free to add.
Car:
91 CRX Si with a LS/V. OBD0 TD22 distributer, chipped PR3 ECU.
