Default Crankcase venting solutions

Other than modifying the valvecover to vent excess pressure, why wouldn't it be just as good to put a couple of vents on the top of the stock catch can? Seems like this would be just as good, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it. Why?

Well I guess I'll be the first to try and see what happens. Now it is either going to be a single large fitting with a filter or two small fittings and hoses with filters routed elsewhere. Any input?

Are you removing the PCV valve, and eliminating the vacuum source?

If your going to do it that way, make sure and route the valve cover hose to the same can or breather setup your going to use.
