crank pulley bolt q
Is the crank pulley bolt on the B16 reverse threaded? ie clockwise loosens and counter-clockwise tightens? Also I've heard that using an impact gun on the bolt is bad for the motor. is this true? If so what is the best way to remove it? Any help is appreciated.
It is standard thread. I haven't had any problems using an impact before except sometimes I have to get out the 3/4 inch gun to get the really tight ones off.

you reeally need the special tool. I've seen/heard plenty of people bending or breaking screwdrivers jammed into the flywheel.
it's only the first time apparently. after that it gets easier.

Actually, using an impact is better for the motor than having someone put the car into 5th gear and stand on the brakes while you try and break the bolt. That's bad for the clutch and pressure plate. I used a screwdriver in the teeth of the FW and a huge 3/4 inch ratchet with about 350 lb's of torque to break that damn bolt. Good luck
A large pry bar on the flywheel teeth works, but they like to slip. Last time I had a tool order I got a $6 flywheel holder. It never slips. The pulley holder tool would be nice, but it's too pricey for such limited uses.
