Default Crank preparations for rebuild?

I am rebuilding my b16. I am throwing in a new set of bearings for both the rods and crankshaft. Are there any preparations to the crank I should make? If the tolerances are out of spec is the correct proceedure to micropolish? I am skeptical of replacing the bearings with having uneven journals on the crank. I havent measured yet I am just wondering as I have never had a crank machined before.

Not really. Make sure the oil galleys aren't gunked up. A gun cleaning kit works well for cleaning them. Also make sure the oil seals didn't dig into the crank too deeply or you'll have pesky oil leaks.

Nothing will be out of spec if the engine was healthy when you tore it down. If the journals were out of round, you would have known it.

Micropolishing isn't even remotely necessary. You can do it if you want to enjoy the theoretical benefits it provides. I'll admit I bought into it.

You don't need it machined. You don't have to do anything to it. Like I said, the crank journals don't magically taper or go out of round. If you removed healthy, un-spun bearings, your crank is good and healthy.

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get banned soon. Intelligence is highly frowned upon on this forum. I think the mods fear that the serfs will gain literacy and start an uprising.
