Cracked tranny still useable?
so my question is, i cracked my tranny where the vss is, is it still reusable, or should i just get a new tranny. Is it worth my time to swap the different parts?
If it is just a small crack you can probably have it welded. If it is already out you can take it to a welder and they will tell you for sure one way or the other.
If it's by the VSS it's not in a vital position, ie: somewhere lower the the fluid level, so fluid won't constantly be sitting on the crack.
If it's a small hairline crack maybe try some JB Weld on it. I would think it would hold without too much of an issue. Like I said, it doesn't sound like it's in a critical spot.
Any pictures?

ok let me repharse it, its more of a chunk taken off. Where the top most bolt goes through the rear mount it ripped that piece off, and it took a chunk where the vss sensor goes in. i did have pictures but they were poor quality so i just deleted them. it was my LS tranny.

Kind of a different story.
Crack =/ chunk missing
You would probably have to get it welded, that's your best bet I think.
