Default Couple top end questions

Ok i got a b18b and im gonig to do some top end work. I got myself a cylinderhead and im goin to port and mill it. While im at it i planned on cam shalfts, cam gears and new valve train. Im looking at crower valve springs and well they have two springs for my car. Just wondering what the difference is between Dual Spring (B18A/B) and Hi-Pres. Dual Race (B18A/B) valve springs. Also what sort of ecu or afc upgrades should i look into?

I would scratch the milling, and put your gasket on a diet instead if I were you. The 68182 springs are much stiffer than the 68181 springs, at least the inners are, I suspect the outers are the same. Use the springs they recommend for the cams you choose. If you still have a doubt call Crower, I did when I had a concern and they gave me 1st rate on target answers...which incidentally were contrary to many others' opinions. With that setup I'd definately lean toward a Hondata system. S200 lovin'.

Because the head gasket can be changed and the head milling cannot. If you decide to go with higher compression pistons and have already milled your head you may run into clearance issues and regret milling your head. Obviously if you decide to run a stock head gasket later, then you can just go back to OEM(3 layer). As always have your head checked for square and decked, I just prefer to have as little as possible taken off. When you mill your head to increase compression rather than doing it "properly" with higher domed pistons you're also moving the cams nearer the crank, retarding your cam timing, and creating more slack in your timing belt for your tensioner to deal with. Yes these problems can be dealt with, but why limit your options later?

Thanks alot guys great help i think im going to take your advice. I also think for a couple reasons one being money :D i might get a cam regrind done but the specs will be somewhere in between 403 and 404 cams. My buddy just had this done and im going to let him test it out a bit more and give me some feed back before i decide but i think going that route i can have an agressive cam but pass emissions with proper safc.
Another question would a new intake manifold be worth it? Should i jsut port and polish stock manifold?

Yeah I'd say you could benefit from a freer flowing manifold with a ported head and cams. Go for the skunk2 IM. It's allot easier to swap out on the LS head too. The IM on the C1 is such a pain to remove, I'd rather take the whole head off and THEN take the IM. Have fun.
