Countershaft won't line up?
Hey guys, i asked my question in the OBX LSD thread but got no responce.
I've only done a few of these installs but never ran into this problem before. After installing when closing the case, I go to lift up the countershaft a little with my small prybar to set the snap ring in place on teh bearing, but the countershaft won't lift high enough to set the snapring. For some reason it's about 1-2mm off & both half's of the case are sitting flush, it just won't lift enough to set.
What do i need to do to resolve this issue.
Here's a pic from my phone to help show my problem, sry it's not the best quality, but u'll get the idea.

This happened to me a lot when I sucked at putting trannies back together.
What your going to do is put the hondabond around the casing like normal, and you are going to put the top of the casing on.
Next use 2 or 3 of the bolts and bolt the casing about 90% of the way on, but not super tight, (so there is still enough slack for the counter shaft to fall in place)
take your tranny now and turn it upside down, and tap it against the ground, hard enough that your not breaking the casing but this should cause the countershaft to snap itself in.
Once the counter shaft is in put in the rest of the bolts. It may take a few tries to get it right..
This is what I do every time and I can get the casing on perfectly almost every time on the first try.
Hope this helps, if you have any further questions PM me
