Could this be pinging/pre-det?
My car with about 20% load makes this sound kinda like this:
1)Wrinkling tinfoil
2)Peeling back the wrap on a TV dinner
3)Frying bacon
but it isnt very loud, as in I have to have turn the radio down pretty low, and usually the front windows up in order to hear it. For safety and longevity I am assuming this is pinging and avoiding it.
Sound like pinging, or something else.
And please don't say "you'll know pinging when you hear it"........I don't know it

i hate trying to diagnose something by someone's description of the sound. i have a hard enough time diagnosing when i'm with the car! from recent experience, have someone look at it...someone who really knows what's up. i had a rod knocking for a couple days, and wasn't sure what it was, and the bastard ended up punching a hole through my block. get it checked, man...
and yeah, i hate the "you'll know it when you hear it" comment...not the first time, but i bet i could pick out rod knock in a honda again in an instant!

Ya I agreee with you...it is hard to diagnose, especially cause I only know it's coming from the engine area.
Kinda like I thought I had a bad wheel bearing or something, cuase everytime I'd hit a sharp bump...like an expansion joint, I would here a metal hitting metal sound real quick....turns out it was just my zip-tied power steering pump (no it's functional) was rattling against the mount.
Anyways it doesn't seem to make getting jumpy or anything when it makes that sound, it just makes the sound.
Unfortionantly I'm the only person I know in real life that has as much experience with Honda's as I do.

Someone once described it was a marble being dropped on a dinner plate. Cracking bacon is a close enough description. I think that your getting pre ig, bro. Retard your ig timming and run as high as you can get octane wise till you get it fixed.
