Cooling Fan Necessary?
My Accord has problems. The past year or two the cooling fan has run at random times while the car was off, causing my battery to die. Anyway, it has began to run 24/7 so rather than jump the car every time I wanna drive it I just disconnected the relay so the fan never goes on. I'm assuming this won't be a problem considering the following:
1. It's a road car, not tracked at all
2. It's winter
3. I'm getting rid of it soon (before it gets hot out again)
Am I dumb to think so? Or should I be alright?

if u sit at stop lights it can still overheat. change out your thermostat.. its only like 12 dollars at honda (i would stick to honda for thermostats)...
hmmm. whats weird
usualy it only stays on if the car is hot. mine does it every now and then on hot days. but it turns off after 3-4 mins

The ECT switch controls the ground side of the fan (the ECT actuates its relay). You should be able to test this to make sure the ECT is what is falsely gounding the fans relay.
If the ECT is causing your problem, the replacement should be simple for any mechanic (or yourself). If the ECT is funtioning normally, then you have a false ground on the cathode side of your Fan Relay.
Happy Hunting.

like i said, I'm getting a new car soon anyway. will i have trouble without a cooling fan (it's only 35-70 degrees here) for the next few weeks at most?

Depends.
How much stop-go driving do you partake in?
Who is going to buy the car? (They may notice your problem and make you have it repaired anyway)
I would personally fix the problem and feel better about myself because I did the "right thing". What if the next owner doesn't know about the problem and isn't astute enought to monitor the temp gauge?
But I can only offer opinion.
The temp gauge isn't very accurate anyway. Don't rely on it for monitoring the "true" temperatures under your hood. It might as well be a "warning lampt" like all the other sensors.

You don't live near Reston do you?
Anyway, I know the car is not hot after it has been sitting for 3 days (in 50 degree whether) and the fan comes on. Could it possibly be that my relay has gone bad? I have taken it to shops and they can't find any problem.
I doubt the relay is the culprit. The relay will not actuate until it has a solid ground. Normall it grounds through the ECT switch to activate the fan.
Good Luck.
