convert an OBD2 Alternator to OBD1
So my friend told me that its possible to convert an OBD2 alternator to OBD1. I have an Alternator off a B20B thats basicly brand new but its OBD2 and the one on my integra thats OBD1 went bad. So can you like take them apart and swap the insides or something.
Whats wrong with your original alt? Surging voltage???? Did it cut right out?
usually a alternator rebuild consists of replacing brushes and bearings as well as cleaning slip-rings on rotor.
Sometimes the diodes blow as well.
For the most part it is worn brushes though

it wont charge the battery when i use the old one my battery light stays on and my car dies when the battery does but then we tried my friends and right when we started the car the battery light was gone and the lights stopped dimming
With your friends battery installed it will run fine till the battery dies.
One more test you can do would be to use a volt meter and while the car is running check the voltage between the battery terminals. If you have around 14V at the terminals with the car running your alternator is fine. If it is 12V or less your alternator need to be fixed.
If you are getting 14 V steady ............. The battery must not be accepting a charge.

Yes I just did this on my wifes 1994 Integra, I used the B20 alternator from the 1999 B20 engine I swapped. You just need to pull the back cover off of both alternators by removing the 8mm nuts.
Lift the cover off and you will see the regulator and rectifer bridge. Just remove the regulator by removing the small philips screws, be careful because the brushes will also come off, dont damage them.
Swap the regulator with the one from your old alternator and your done! As long as your old regulator was good this will work fine and plug right into your harness.

yeah i found that out but one of the screws on the old regulator got stripped and i cant get it off cause its rusted in place.
