Default Continuous peak hp engines

I was wondering if you guys ever think we will have engines that develop peak horsepower for a sustained number of rpms, instead of just at a peak rpm? I know we have engines now that can develop their maximum torque for several thousand rpms, but will it ever be possible to do this with hp?

Nope.......horsepower is how fast you can spin the torque. So to make your theory work you would lose torque as the rpm's climb.

I would imagine that it's easier to keep the engine at a constant rpm (wherever your peak power is) and use a CVT than it would be to maintain peak horsepower for any decent amount of time.

I think most diesel truck engines have a pretty flat hp curve. And electric motors have the same torque at any speed.
