Default Comptech problems on 2000 Civic SI (need help)

alright well it took me and my friend a while but we installed the comptech intake/icebox, header, and cat-back exhaust on my car. i drove it for like fifteen minutes and noticed two things bad.

1. the exhaust tip is touching the rear bumper and is burning the bumper plastic. it makes a pretty bad smell that you can smell around the whole car everytime i come to a stop. but we noticed the rear bumper is sagging. theres a gap on both sides between the bumper and fender. but if like one of us pulls the bumper up to where it should be with no gap then it looks like the tip fits good in the cut outs.

2. i hear a rattling when i go over bumps or right when i start/shut off the car. i guess its rubbing a heat shield but how can i find out where, and have any of you had similair problems

alright please let me know what do, especially about the burning bumper. honda will be closed tommorow and sunday so is there any temporary fix till they can fix it

oh ya also, without the heat shield on the header it feels like the engine bay gets much hotter. even the hood gets hot after running it hard. is this OK? it seems like a lot of people run headers without heatshields installed, just wondering though

is the exhaust hangers the same lenght if they are shorter, it could cause problems you mention....... I would take your rear bumber cover off and reattach it after inspecting it to see if any of the mounting points are broken

check the length of the hangers especially at the muffler. for now you can farm something to make the muffler hang lower and not touch the bumper until you can fix that.
Running hot is efficient but hard on the engine the more heat diplaced by the engine (therefor a hotter engine bay) leads to taking in hoter air in your new intake. unless your showing or it no longer fits leave the heat shield on. It's better for perfromance

Bend the exhaust hangers on the muffler to get the muffler to hang a little lower...it's what Comptech did to my exhaust when I had it installed at their shop.
