Default Comptech IceBox + intake kit??

Can someone please explain what is necessary to have the Comptech Icebox installed?

I heard that besides the Ice Box you have to buy the regular intake kit too? Is this true? Is the Ice box, simply a Cold-Air extension piece? So for just the parts it would be $360?

You just need to purchase the "Ice Box", no need to purchase the intake tubing.

You can run the icebox without the short ram, but you'll get a better power gain if you use the shortram and comptech filter along with it.

shoot, so $360, huh!

I really like the fact that the Comptech is quieter than the AEM, has about the same power numbers, and is a little safer. But its gonna cost more than $120 more than for an AEM CAI equipped with By-Pass valve.

So half of it is going to be metal tubing and the other half will be plastic?

You guys think its worth it?

No need to run the aluminium piping...to start you can even run the stock air filter.

I realize that, bu then it won't pick up cool air, it would just be a short ram, and it wouldn't help much with power gains as the CAI setup would.

What I am asking is: Is the extra money worth it for the full Comptech setup, or should I just go for the AEM with bypass valve. I guess if its significantly quieter than teh AEM, and provides better safety, and equal or better performance, it might be worth it.

Just get the box at $169.00 retail.

You do not need this:

So is this what everyone is doing, just using the Ice Box with the remainder stock piece (piping that runs from box to Intake Manifold)?

Yep...just using the stock rubber intake elbow. I have the full kit, but that was before Comptech found out(on my car) that the aluminium intake piping was not needed.

I have the Aluminum Pipe and the Ice box... I like the bling bling effect.... Actually I'm just a Comptech *****, so it's all good!

To back up Austin, you can just use the stock hose and the ice box. Fits fine. You might want to get a K&N though...

That, or buy a cheap short ram and a filter and you're done. And now that you know that, I'll sell you a carbon fiber short ram for $30
