Compression Test Kit ---- Is it worth it?
Harbor Freight has some pretty cheap (and not necessarily shitty) stuff...
I usually go with the you get what you pay for saying, but I will rarely use this and at 20 bucks, its not the end of the world if its off a little, not that there are that many complex mechanical parts in the guage to potentially break....

Just go to sears and buy a craftsman one, its about 20 bucks so after shipping your gonna actually be paying more for the harbor freight one.

20 bucks for a craftsman compression kit or just the guage? Craftsman only offers a lifetime warranty on their hand tool, so chances are they might be the same thing, just in a different packaging...

It comes with the gauge, adapter and hose. I have ordered things from harbor freight, there small hand tools are nice, and so are a few other things, I would shell out the extra money and get a craftsman compression tester.

So replace the rubber o ring, the o rings just don't go bad unless you do something to mess it up.

I broke a bunch of those sockets, as well as the impact extensions. No good, if you ask me.

Its a 45 cent O-Ring that can be replaced easily. You need to add some oil to it so it seals good and doesnt pinch.
The craftsman works fine. So does the $20 one from pep-boys, etc...
The 300 psi gauge is useless with high C/R motors, thats when you need to upgrade

sorry to revive an archive but i have the harbor freight compression tester, get it! it's worth the money! i've also never broken one of their tools.. that's coming from a guy with a short temper/patience who has thrown his torque wrench at the wall many many times, that wrench still works like a charm
