Default compression test for h22a

im going to be doing a compression test wih my friend, but i dont really kno what number should come across the screen...i heard i should get over 200 for each vavle...i want to make sure...need help!

That's not always true. I had a all-motor h22 that hit about 190-200. I also had a low-compression motor that hit 170. As long as they are about equal across the cylinders, you should be fine. If one of the cylinders is way out compared to the others, then you could have a problem

i have a JDM h22a My compression was 260 all 4 cylinders on full throtle

thats pretty high wouldnt you agree? i would think that 220ish would be average

260 is also high from what I've seen

well i did the test today and the gauge was broken! arg! lol but anyways i went ahead and tried anyways...the gauge would not hold the pressure...the little valve was missing...but i noticed that cylinder 1 every crank came up t about 75, while the other 3 came up to about 120.....i can start assuming but im gonna check it tomorrow with a working gauge.

Yea, there is no way to get a good answer with an erratic/inoperative gauge.........
-let us know what it reads with a different gauge

ok here are the results...not happy :-(

cylinder 1: 130
cylinder 2: 210
cylinder 3: 210
cylinder 4: 180

so they one thats really fucked up is the 1st one, and i guess since 1 and 4 work together some water got into both.....time to rip apart the head.

I would take the head off, inspect the head-gasket. (were you burning coolant?)
Visually inspect the head/valvetrain. Visually look at the bottom end, what does the top of the piston and cylinder wall area look like? Any signs of serious wear, dis-coloration, any metal shavings in oil? Possible pison ring or ring land issue...
