Default compression test figures

I done a compression test yesterday and got 150 150 150 155 on my JDM b18C integra...from reading through other topics i see that USDM figures are around the 200 mark. Is this very low for my car...my friend has a euro civic VTi with B16A engine he checked his after mine and got 135 approx on all 4 cylinders so we reckoned that mine was probably right. His engine is completely stock, with only 38k miles and it doesnt use any oil at all so its safe to say his engine is in fairly good condition, but i still think 150 is too low on my car, and if its is low how come the numbers are so even across the board?

Those numbers look fine. I don't see a problem.

are you doing it with the engine warm, throttle open & are you using a reliable gauge? those numbers are really low. should be like 210-220

yes the engine was warm/hot but the throttle wasnt open, just cranked engine till gauge stopped moving

opening the throttle usually makes a difference try that and see how it works out for you. with the throttle open is the proper procedure.

Yikes... Throttle should be held in the wide-open position. Try doing that and see if it changes your numbers.

as you might have seen in another post i screwed up my distributor doing the check...didnt realise i had to pull the ecu fuse and so burnt out the coil, so i have to wait till i get new coil before re-checking

i think that it was more the guy using it was faulty more so than the gauge itself which was brand new...if only i had read my crappy haines manual it tells exactly how to do it...which is of course totally different to the way it was done...and hence the toasted coil and me having to drive a POS till i get a new coil on wednesday. I spoke to another guy at a tuning shop today and when i was telling him how the test was done i could see him screwing up his face in disbelief...why didnt i just bring it to him in the first place...anywho no point in crying over spilt milk, the other guy is going to the comp test again on friday so hopefully i should see some better figures.

i had that same problem with low numbers but i think my tester was leaking. thats what you get for $20. but if all the numbers are really close you're probably ok.

the guage was made by TENG tools and they are not cheap..bad operator was the problem...anywho he has agreed to pay for whatever it costs to repair the damage!

when i did mine a while ago i got 160, 160, 160, 120 (120 in cylinder 1, haven't quite worked out why yet, i think its either coz the head is warped or coz the valves aren't sealing properly), JDM 89 integra XSi, 147k's

http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/c.../comptest.html

do the compression test again and do it exactly as it is said in this how to article the motor must be hot and the throttle must be open all the way while turning over.
