compression and leak down test on a cold engine
Im looking at buying a 99 d16y5 for my 89 crx hf. The engine was swaped out for a b18 about a year ago. This means the cylinder wall may be some what dry and the engine is cold.
I need to run a compression test to make sure I'm not buying junk.
I know how to do a compression test but Im concerned about the dry cylinder walls and ring friction. If I inject oil to lub the clinder wall the rings will look good regardless of there condition.
What should I expect a good cylinder's compression to read in a cold engine.
Would a leakdown be better with these conditions?
Any thought or suggestions!
