Default compression for h23/vtec

uhm i only cranked it 4 or 5 times per cyclinder and i got 160 but on the last one i went a few more and it was 170 so im assuming doing it properly that it woulda been 170 across. but not a good thing to assume. anyways even if it is only 160 is that bad for a jdm h23/vtec...not sure if the head is us or not but the block is jdm. im troubleshooting this one so im starting back at compression. theres alot of gas in the oil and i mean alot from trying to start so..... i dont know.n i searched and seen some with 220?? but people responded saying thats insane!!?

well thats why you do a compression test without using ignition switch. just jump a wire from the battery to the starter solenoid.

What pistons did you use when buliding the motor?

If you used H23 pistons, you will have ~9.8:1 CR and those numbers sound about right.

If you used USDM H22 pistons, you will have ~10.4:1 CR and that is WAY low!
