I was wondering how much horsepower you gain from increasing your compression?
I read on this site months ago, something about 1 point of compression increase will give you 50hp. That sounds way too high to me.

My Prelude has 9.1:1 compression, just wondering what kind of hp increase I could get by increasing it.

 

1 full point, ie 10.1 will yeild about 8%, or close to 16hp in your motor.

 

uh....he has a 90 lude. they don't have 200 hp

 

so just imagine when I put 12:1 into a b20b...that are like 8.8:1, that alone is a 3 point gain...yummy!

 

Thanks for the replies. That means if I went from 9.1:1 to 11.5:1 I would get an extra 20hp, from my stock 110hp, sounds good.
I won't do it to my Prelude though, I'll just keep it in mind for my future project car.
