compression check, now no start
I was looking at a '95 civic ex, drove it, and it seemed underpowered. I decided to do a compression check to see if it might be a problem with the engine. The compression was good (~150 psi). When performing the check, I removed the wires from the plugs and placed them all on top of the valve cover, leaving them attached at the distributor. After doing so and putting it back together, it would not start. It would crank, but there appeared to be no spark. What gives? I did nothing more than I just stated. thanks
edit: I disconnected the battery to give the computer a chance to reset itself, and swapped out the spark plugs trying to get it fixed, since I dropped a couple of them during disassembly.

did you ground your wires onto the valve cover or disconnect the plugs that go into the distributor? if not, then you just fried your coil. get a new coil and it should start.
No, I didn't. I just laid the spark plug end of the wires on the valve cover. Any recommendations for a coil other than stock, or is stock fine? Also, I didn't see a wire coming from a coil to what I thought was the distributor cap. Is the coil inside of that cap?
