Default compression

is it true that b18c has a higher deck then b18a/b?so if i ran gsr internals in a ls block, how many points will the compression will be raise over stock gsr?

The ls block and the gsr block are exactly the same in terms of deck height and all the other dimensions. What changes in between the two, is the stroke. The ls has a longer (forgot how much) stroke than the gsr. If you put gsr internals into an ls block, you will essentialy have a gsr shortblock (minus a few things).

You will need gsr rods, and whatever pistions you want. If you use the LS pistions, your compression will drop, due to the drop in displacement. If you went with gsr pistions, your compression would go from 9.2:1 to 9.4:1.

I am assuming you are still using the ls head. It is not worth it to do this to your engine, unless you plan on a huge turbo setup, where the loads on the pistons and rods need a more accomadating r/s ratio. (if that made no sense, then dont worry about it and dont destroke your block)
