Default Cold air intake question

hey, I just got a swap done. I got a jdm h22a type s put into my 96 accord, replacing the f22b. anyways, the throttle body on the h22a is bigger obviously and my cold air i had on the accord engine doesnt fit properly. (when i received my motor it did not come with a stock intake) The guys at the shop that just put the engine in say they can adapt it and stick the old cold air on, i dont think thats such a good idea,(or is it ok?) and i was wondering if i bought a cold air intake meant for the h22a type s, if it would fit in my engine bay properly. thanks

Are the diameters of the stock intake pipes different? I'd be surprised if they are.

BTW, I think you owe me royalties on the username.

when i got my engine shipped it did not come with a stock intake pipe, filter box, yada yada, but the throttle body diametres are different on the h22a and f22b.... h22a one is wider. if i adapt my old cold air onto the big throttle body would it restrict much air? noticably affect performance?
heh ya sorry bout the name steal, was the first thing that came to my head at the time

Measure the two diameters, one should be 3" and one won't be, I guess. The 3" one is more common for Preludes and Accords. I'd use what it's supposed to have. I'm sure a smaller diameter pipe will restrict it.

my car along with the old engine are at the shop, so i cant check the diametres today, but i guess i can look around and see if i can find out what they are on here or somewhere. I also heard some chatter a while ago that the throttle body on my h22a type s is slightly bigger than one on a regular h22a, but i dunno, we tested the stock accord intake and it doesnt even come close to fitting with the throttle body.. ive been lookin and asking around but i still havnt got the green light on whether an intake meant for that engine will fit in the 96 accord engine bay.... anyone?

I'll bet the intake will fit in the engine bay. The bodies aren't different on the USDM vs JDM. I guess the JDM intakes are larger than 3". That makes sense.
